Giving Sight to the Blind, Jubilee Tang

I am currently a practicing optometrist living in the city of Irvine. In my profession as an optometrist I help to improve people's vision but I could never give people what they really need--spiritual sight. However, through the ministries of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee my spiritual eyes have been opened increasingly to see God's heart's desire as unveiled in the Holy Scriptures. Through their ministries, I have been helped to know the real things of God and of man (1 Corinthians 2:11), especially concerning the great mystery--Christ and the church (Ephesians 5:32).

Having been a Christian under their ministries for over 19 years and having read through the Bible numerous times, I am increasingly in awe at how their ministries have never deviated from the central revelation in the Bible concerning Christ (John 5:39, 46; Matthew 16:16,17; Matthew 17:5, 8; Colossians 2:2) and the church (Matthew 16:18; Acts 20:28; Ephesians 1:22, 23; 1 Timothy 3:15; Revelation 1:11, 20). Rather, it is my experience that every time I have read their publications, especially with a seeking and praying spirit, I have been led again and again to know Christ in a deeper way and to enjoy His presence in a sweeter way. Through their ministries my faith and love in God and the Bible as His holy word increasingly has been established, strengthened, and solidified. I am always amazed at how the apparently contradicting portions in the Bible, which unbelievers like to use in their attempt to deny God and His word, have been resolved one by one through their ministries, to bring me and other loving seekers of God into a richer experience of Christ and the church (for this I would highly recommend reading the Life-Studies of Genesis by Witness Lee).

I cannot talk about my appreciation of Christ without talking about the church. I have been going to all kinds of church meetings and functions, weekly, for more than 19 years. I am so thankful to the Lord that I could enjoy Christ in such a practical way with other loving seekers of God in the local churches where I have lived, whether it was in Taipei, Taiwan (where I was born), or in Surabaya, Indonesia (where I grew up), or in Anaheim (where I attended high school), or in Berkeley (where I went for my college education), or in Irvine (where I currently live). Without the local churches, standing on the ground of oneness, I would have had a hard time to grow or even make it as a Christian. By staying in the church life through personal ups and downs, my love for Christ and His church, for whom He died (Acts 20:28), has increased more than ever before. Through it all I believe the church of God is becoming purer in its nature, function, and expression. Despite Satan's constant attempt to destroy and defame the church, I believe Christ's promise in Matthew 16:18 that He will build His church and that the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. I believe that through the process of transformation He will gain the church as His glorious matching bride (Ephesians 5:27, 32). It is only because of His mercy (Romans 9:16) that I am still here in the church life enjoying God's rich presence and eagerly awaiting Christ's soon return (Philippians 3:20) for His builded church, His glorious matching bride (Revelation 19:7-9; 21:2, 9-10).
